El Hitta – The Sniper Is Back

West Side Chicago recording artist El Hitta has rebuilt his team, launched Hitta Music Group, dropped the album Meet The Sniper, and now he’s hitting the road with rapper/producer Chief Keef.

El Hitta came back and snagged a spot on one of the biggest hometown tours of the year. Meet The Sniper is not a polite reintroduction. It is a statement. After doing his time and rebuilding from the ground up, the West Side emcee launched his own imprint — HMG / Hitta Music Group — in conjunction with Loud Money Music Group.

The Chief Keef Live 2026 tour kicks off Saturday, September 12 at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island.

From El Hitla to El Hitta

Born Emory Wilkerson, Hitta started rapping at the age of 14. Early on he went by El Hitla —a name he later dropped after learning what it actually referenced — and rebuilt the brand as El Hitta. The voice stayed the same: that off-key, sing-song cadence people compare to Mystikal and DMX. His music is more than the trap wave that surrounded him.

Influenced by hometown heavyweights G Herbo and Lil Durk, with the hunger of Lil Wayne, El Hitta carved a lane that mixed street grit with real emotion. Early records like “Because,” “Hitla Style,” and “We Outside” put him on the underground map. Then came “Aww Yea” — the piano-driven 2018 breakout track that he wrote at a time when he felt like giving up. That record became his calling card, pulling millions of streams and putting his name in the spotlight when many people used to ignore him. He followed up with “Gang Nem” featuring Prince Dee. Then on December 16, 2018 he dropped his debut album Owe Nobody Nothin.

The TRiiBE called El Hitta one of the city’s next ones. Chicago Reader flagged the melodic intensity. For a minute, it looked like the city had a new star with his own ad-libs, dance, and sound.

Locked Up. Recalibrated. Reloaded

The streets and the system interrupted El Hitta’s run more than once. He has been open about prison time, including a 15-month stretch earlier in his career that he says woke him up and made him take the craft seriously. The most recent chapter hit harder. Upon release on April 17, 2025 after service a two year sentence, El Hitta was placed on house arrest. During this time he began to write more songs and get his business affairs in order. His momentum came to a stand still because no one was running the company while he was away. That is the part most people skip when they talk about a “comeback.” Coming home is not the win. Coming home with no infrastructure and still deciding to build one is the win. El Hitta tightened his circle of friends and stopped waiting on opportunities to come to him, but went after them..

“I came home disciplined, focused, and determined to turn my life into records,” Hitta said, and that’s the energy he has carried into interviews since his release. The music that followed is not nostalgia. It is a man who already lost time and refuses to lose the next chapter.

HMG: Hitta Music Group

In December 2025, El Hitta made it official: he signed his new deal and launched his own label, (HMG) Hitta Music Group. The first call was not to the coasts. It was to Chicago.

“Before we bring in anybody from the outside, I want to give my city the first shot.” he shared online. El Hitta opened doors for producers, videographers, photographers, editors, graphic designers, stylists, and dancers. That is not a vanity imprint. That is an artist turning into an architect and building a house so the next wave from the West Side does not have to beg for a seat. The current run is a two-banner movement. HMG holds the artist’s own flag. Loud Money Music Group is rolling the machine acquiring radio rotation, press, bookings, and city coverage so the records do not die in the group chat. The Meet The Sniper artwork says it plain: HMG on one side, Loud Money Music Group on the other, El Hitta in the middle with the scope locked.

Meet the Sniper

Meet The Sniper dropped on May 25, 2026. Hitta called it more than a mixtape, “It’s a statement. Elevation. Pressure.” The title is the posture. He is not asking the industry to like him. He is lining up the shot. The project is stacked with records that have been circulating including, “Outro (Bye Bye),” “All The Money,” “Again and Again,” “Ghost,” “Go Hitta,” “Heavenly Father,” “Nobody,” “Just Wanna Win,” “Spin Again,” and the one the streets keep running back to, “Super Bowl (Freestyle).” It is hungry music. Not polished for playlists. Built for people who understand what it costs to disappear and still come back talking.

The Single: Super Bowl

“Super Bowl (Freestyle)” is the latest single off the album. The official video is out and in featured on several platforms. The title is the energy — championship weekend, lights on, no excuses. Hitta has been pushing the visual alongside the mixtape run, linking with voices like Crip Mac to keep the record in people’s faces.

“Aww Yea” was the song that introduced El Hitta when he felt like quitting, but “Super Bowl” is the song that introduces the version that refused to stay down. Same voice. Different altitude.

On Tour With Chief Keef — Starts September 12

This is the moment the city cannot sleep on. Chief Keef’s first major hometown headlining tour in years kicks off Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island. After years of being boxed out of many Chicago stages, Sosa is opening his Live 2026 run on the lakefront and El Hitta is going on tour with him as the opening act. That pairing is Chicago history in real time. Chief Keef wrote the drill blueprint and the world copied.

El Hitta is the West Side voice that never fully left, even when the industry moved on. Putting them on the same bill as Hitta drops new music is not a coincidence. It is a city handing the mic back to one of its own on the biggest home date of the fall.

Chief Keef Live 2026 Tour Schedule:

• Sat, Sept 12 — Chicago, IL — Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island (TOUR KICKOFF)
• Sun, Sept 13 — Minneapolis, MN — The Armory
• Mon, Sept 14 — Detroit, MI — The Fillmore Detroit
• Tue, Sept 15 — Indianapolis, IN — Old National Centre
• Sat, Sept 19 — Houston, TX — Bayou Music Center

Other cities the tour will land in include: New Orleans, New York, Philly, Boston, Denver, L.A., and Las Vegas. The tour will wrap up in late October.

Why This Comeback Hits Different

Chicago is full of talent that never gets the second runway. El Hitta already had the first one, the viral record, the radio rotation, the Chicago Theatre slot next to G Herbo. Then life snatched the keys. A lot of artists come home talking. El Hitta came home and built a company, dropped a full body of work, and booked a national run with one of the most important artists this city ever produced. That is not luck. That is a man who treated the booth like it was the only way out, twice. The sniper is not asking for a welcome-home party. He is asking the city to press play. Pull up when the tour is in a city near you and watch what happens when a West Side vet finally owns the operation.

Meet The Sniper is out now on all platforms.

Run “Super Bowl (Freestyle).”
